HIGH STEAKS is a show about labia, labia-shaming, cosmetic surgery & fundamentally, body lovin'.

ELOINA hangs two beef steaks from her labia, butchers them up & sizzles them on a grill.

​

And...her mum is in the show.

 

Seamlessly melding performance art and comedy clowning, HIGH STEAKS discusses rising demands in young people for labiaplasty - plastic surgery to make the labia smaller/more symmetrical. Through live conversations with her mum and recorded interviews with labia-owners, HIGH STEAKS is a call for increased visibility of varied vulvas and a celebration of our vulvas in all their shapes & sizes.

Prepare to raise a middle finger to butchering your body for the aesthetics of another.

Note from ELOINA

 

I was bullied for the size &shape of my labia when I was 10 years old. I looked up this surgery. Since developing this show, feedback shows that labia-shaming is a common shared experience between my audiences. Not to mention, ‘designer vaginas’ being a worldly trend.

 

Empowering feminist shows about censorship are common. However, labia-shaming & labiaplasty is one topic that even labia owners censor from themselves.

 

In collaboration with Lydia Reeves (Vulva Diversity Project), HIGH STEAKS offers a view of varied vulvas to break the shame cycle. It opens up conversations about a surgery that happens on our doorstep, on the NHS, which we don’t know/speak about.
